Rovers all-set for return to action

Mark Pritchett’s first team squad head off to meet a former Tuffley Rovers player in their first pre-season fixture of 2017/18.

The Rovers squad will visit Seasons, Cheltenham Town’s training ground, to play an Academy squad, which will offer an opportunity to meet up with former Rovers’ player Antoine Thompson, who now manages The Robins’ Academy.

After a positive series of pre-season training sessions, Pritchett’s squad go into their first game in good spirits, with several new faces in the squad for today’s game. With the club’s first choice keeper, Dave Evans and his deputy from last season, Kane Winman, both unavailable, Pritchett is taking the chance to look at the club’s third choice goalkeeper, youngster Robin Stamps, and he is also likely to use Danny Wallington, who as returned to training following a four year absence owing to two serious knee injuries.

There are likely to be appearances for at least two or three other new faces, as Pritchett takes the opportunity to survey his options in the first fixture of pre-season.

The game kicks-off at 3pm, at Quat Goose Lane (GL51 9RX).
