A mixed bag of results

Saturday summary:

All five of our sides were in action yesterday, with mixed success.

The first team succumbed to a 3-0 defeat on kicks from the penalty spot, after a 3-3 draw with County League side Kingswood. Player/Manager Mark Pritchett scored two terrific headers, either side of a Warren Mann goal, but a last minute OG helped Kingswood take the game to penalties, when Rovers missed their first three efforts, to exit this season’s GFA Challenge Trophy.

Our Reserves secured a valuable away point against FC Barometrics, thanks to a late Ryan Dobbins penalty, to keep Steve Cowe’s recent good run going in the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League, Division One.

The Thirds travelled to Bush FC but were unable to build on their first win of the season, recorded last week, and went down 2-0 to leave them near the bottom of Stroud League, Division Two.

However, the Fourths and Fourths both kept themselves up near the top of the table, as they recorded excellent wins to extend their good run of form. The Fourths travelled to Berkeley Town Reserves and returned with a 4-0 win, courtesy of a Scott Morgan hat-trick and a rare Adam Dodsworth goal. The Fifths hosted Tetbury Town 3rds at Beaufort and ran out 5-2 winners; their goals came from Will Cronshaw, Ben Jones, Alex Base and a Henry Jordan brace.
